We are in a day and age when upheaval and calamities are escalating. The world’s economy is suffering. Why is this happening many ask. Is this the end of the world? What is going on? We don’t feel safe any more. Terrorists seem to have the upper hand. Our wealth is slipping away. Are we going to have another depression? Who has the answer?
In order for us to understand these turbulent times, we must go back to the beginning. Many do not believe there is a God who created all things according to the Bible. Others believe, but so many opinions as to interpretation of His Word have caused division within the Body of believers. So we go on with our own opinions, man-made traditions and outright disregard of others’ beliefs. This is a sad reflection on our part as to our relationship with the Almighty. I speak now to those who believe in YHVH, the One Who Is and Who Was and Who is to Come. I know others who may read this will never finish it because they do not believe the same way. That is their prerogative. We all have choices to make. God gave us that ability. That is our freedom to be who we are.
In the beginning, YHVH gave us a time frame in which to follow so that we might know His appointed times (moedim). This was to help us follow all of His carefully planned patterns for our personal enjoyment in fellowship with Him. However, right at the beginning when Adam and Eve disobeyed His instructions, He knew that mankind would now suffer the consequences of their disobedient acts. Death and turmoil have been the result ever since.
Today, the turmoil is escalating as I said at the beginning. Reading His Word tells us that this would happen. He said in His Word that these things must take place, but that we were not to worry, but to place all of our cares and burdens on Him. He said that when you see these things begin to happen, look up for your redemption draweth nigh. (Luke 21). He also said that we would not know the day or the hours when our Messiah would return, but we would know the seasons and time (frame).
But alas, we have disbanned the Creator’s Original Reckoning of Time and replaced it with our own man-made calendar system that is totally out of sinc with YHVH’s timing. If you search out calendars on the internet, you will find that there are so many different ones out there with differnt dates that totally confuse our so called intelligence. It is no wonder we are LOST IN TIME. I challenge you to search it out. See if you can make any sense of it.
In order for us to figure out what and when YHVH has for us, we must go back to His time frame. When Moses led the Hebrew nation out of bondage from Egypt, he was given a “calendar system” that was to be used (and had been in existence since creation) for all generations. It was to be written down and is now called the Torah. In this time frame, we do not find any reference to the naming of days, months and years. He said that the beginning of the year (the head of the year - Rosh Hashana) was to be determined by an agricultural event, followed by the sighting of a new moon.
What was that agricultural event? The biblical year begins on the first new moon after the barley in the land of Israel reaches the stage in its development that the Bible calls Aviv. Only by checking the state of the barley crop can we fulfill the Biblical commandment to “Keep the Month of the Aviv” (Deut. 16:1). Only by fixing the calendar in harmony with the barley crop can we fulfill the commandment to celebrate the Hag Ha-Matzot (Feast of Unleavened Bread) “at the time of the month of the Aviv, because in the month of the Aviv you went out of Egypt.” (Exodus 34:18) Therefore, any calendar year cannot be determined until the barley crop is aviv. What is aviv? According to Leviticus 2:14, “If you offer a grain offering of your firstfruits (from the spring crops of barley), you shall offer for the grain offering of your firstfruits green heads of grain roasted on the fire, grain beaten from full heads.” This was a certain stage of ripeness just before full ripeness. If it had gone past the full ripeness stage, it would not be considered aviv. So YHVH told Moses what he was to look for in order to determine the Firstfruits.
Based on that, the next step was to declare the beginning of the month (which is called Nissan on the Rabbinical Calendar that the Jewish people use today) by the sighting of the first sliver of the new moon. When this new moon was sited over Jerusalem, then the new month would commence. Another full cycle would begin when the next season of the barley was determined as aviv. This would be a time frame in our modern day of 12 or 13 months based on the number of new moon sitings during this cycle which determined the beginning of a month.
So what we have today is a pre-calculated calendar system that allows us to determine future events such as holy days, school days, (pagan) holidays, etc. and has nothing to do with God’s original creation of time. It is no wonder we are LOST IN TIME. We have so many “prophecy” specialists out there concerning the “end-of-days” prophecies. They all point to the Word of God as their source, but they have not truly determined the correct time according to the Word. That’s why we have all kinds of dates thrown at us and all kinds of predictions as to when these future events are supposed to take place.
My friends, in these perilous times, I urge you to get back to the truth of God’s Word. Study your Bible, pray to God and stop relying on man to give you the answers. Yeshua (Jesus) said that when He left this earth, He would send us the Ruach Hachodesh (Holy Spirit) who would lead us and guide us into all truth. Let’s stop leaning on our own ability and lean on Him.
